The U.S. government is spending billions to prop up Bear Stearns in an effort to cut losses on a devastating economy. It is efforts like these that cause people to think that the government is guilty of discrimination. Why, do you ask? There are sweltering ghettos that are rife with poverty, gang killings, and diminished business opportunities. The amount of money the government seems willing to invest to correct these horrible circumstances is a drop in the bucket compared to what they put forth to maintain the status quo. We belong to a society that begrudges welfare to single mothers and incarcerates drug addicts, while justifying trillions on a neocon Middle East experimental fantasy project. Will history portray these decisions as fair and equal? The answer is obvious.
